This most unexpected win in years was this privateer entry no.41 in the Group 5 category and driven by notorious brothers Bill and Don Whittington with Klaus Ludwig.
Having reportedly bought the car from German Porsche experts Kremer at the last minute, the car was both a class and overall winner and represents the very first 911 based car to win outright. Both Porsche and numerous privateer outfits had been filling the Le Mans ranks in the lower categories for many years.
