Bentley Speed 8. 2003.
In 2001 Bentley returned to the famous race, 68 years after the famous Bentley Boys notched up a string of victories, with the EXP Speed 8 in the closed-cockpit LMGTP class. As Bentley was part of the Volkswagen group - along with Audi, the green cars shared a number of technologies and the engine from the hugely successful Audi R8s. Two cars were entered, with one earning third place behind a pair of Audi R8s.
Returning in 2003, with two heavily revised and better developed Bentley Speed 8s, the team finally triumphed, dominating the event with a 1-2 finish - thus scoring Bentley’s 6th Le Mans outright win - earning 5th spot in the all time record of wins.
The winning no.7 car was driven by Rinaldo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Guy Smith
